Innovative UPVC, A Great Alternative to Wood

UPVC as a replacement for wood in building construction

UPVC or PVC-u stands for unplasticized PVC. Since it is not plasticized, i.e. PVC is not softened by adding plasticizers, it is harder and tougher than ordinary plasticized PVC. In short, U-PVC is a more rigid PVC.

Like PVC, uPVC is also used in a wide range of applications. Durability, lightness, resistance to rot or corrosion, easy installation, and affordability are the advantages of uPVC products. Over the years, it has also proven to be an effective alternative to wood and a reliable building material. UPVC windows and doors are an example.

UPVC is used as a wood replacement for door and window frames, entire doors and windows (i.e. not just frames), and can also be used for panels, cladding, partitions and many other purposes. Studies have shown that about 55% to 60% of window frames used recently in the United States and Europe are not made of wood, steel or aluminum, but are made of uPVC, which shows that UPVC is becoming more and more popular.

The UPVC material itself has excellent sound and heat insulation properties. Therefore, if UPVC framed windows, doors or ventilators are double or triple glazed, they will be good sound and heat insulators overall. These properties are particularly useful in extremely cold, hot or noisy environments. Wooden, steel or aluminium window frames do not have these additional benefits as these materials do not have thermal or sound insulation properties.
